Benylin Dry Coughs non-drowsey Syrup is a pale brown coloured, peach flavoured syrup. •What it does: Through its active ingredients, BENYLIN® Dry Coughs helps to suppress the coughing mechanism, reducing the urge to cough. •How it works: BENYLIN® Dry Coughs contains dextromethorphan which helps to suppress the cough mechanism, and helping you to feel better. •What is a dry cough? A dry cough is also known as a non-productive cough because it does not produce any phlegm. Dry coughs are caused by an inflammation of the upper airways caused by dust, foreign bodies or an infection
The liquid contains dextromethorphan hydrobromide which is an antitussive to help stop persistent coughing
Do not use if: •You suffer from lung disease •You are taking, or have taken in the last two weeks, drugs for depression known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) •You are under 12 years old •Talk to your doctor or pharmacist: If you have a persistent cough such as occurs with asthma or produces a lot of mucus (phlegm) •This medicine contains glucose and sucrose which are both sugars therefore this should be taken into account in patients with diabetes or those intolerant to sugars. •This medicinal product contains alcohol. This can be harmful for those suffering from alcoholism. •This medicine can affect your ability to drive. Do not drive whilst taking this medicine until you know how this medicine affects you. It may be an offence to drive when taking this medicine if your ability to drive safely is affected. •Please consult your pharmacist or doctor before using this medicine if you are currently pregnant, likely to get pregnant or breastfeeding. •Please consult your pharmacist or doctor if you are currently taking any other medicines as this may cause an interaction. •If you think you may be allergic to any of the ingredients contained in this medicine, please seek medical advice before taking. •If you have any questions after you have bought this medication, please speak to your pharmacist
Adults and children aged 12 years and over: take two 5 ml spoonful's four times a day. Do not take more than 4 doses in 24 hours. Do not give to children under 12 years old
